How to create a real conversational piece in the Pilbara.
If anyone has had the audacity to do things somewhat differently it is Glen and Kirsten of Proconstruct WA.
Proconstruct has the most stunning ebony black truck you can imagine – an Isuzu NPR 145/55 limited edition model which when you think about trucks in the Pilbara – they’re always white with red dust - right?
One look and you can see why it is a talking point.
This ebony black truck with gold writing has to be the most glamorous vehicle in that part of the world and though it accumulates the red dust, Glen fastidiously cleans it at least once a week, so the glamour is always there.
Why black you might ask?
The couple hail from New Zealand – enough said? – ‘All Blacks!’.
So, the next obvious question – New Zealanders in the Pilbara? That’s one heck of a contrast.
They’ve been based at Karratha for 4 years now - they were there when Covid struck – couldn’t go with their original plan of returning to the country of the long white cloud – so goodbye to that idea and they have set up business in Karratha where they undertake residential and commercial building work.
And despite the heat they’re loving it.
With 29 years of building experience, Glen has undertaken an exceptionally wide variety of work.
He has worked on building luxury million-dollar homes, worked on the Fiona Stanley and St John of God Hospitals, he’s managed a team of 40 plus workers and has overseen the construction and installation of transportable homes and high specification buildings for campsites and residences in the Pilbara.
He has worked with clients such as BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Roy Hill and the Dampier Port Authority as well as contracting to the major modular companies among them Ausco, Fleetwood and Complete Portable.
There’s not much in the way of building work that can phase him, so if you have a building project needing a skilled set of hands, Glen Morrow is your man…. and don’t be surprised if the most glamorous truck turns up.
You’ll be gobsmacked like everybody else.
