Meet Anita and Reg Spiers
This couple are so well prepared for their long trip around Australia!
If you’re going to do a lengthy work and travel trip, there’s nothing like being well prepared – and you would have to say that few would be better prepared than this couple.
Anita and Reg Spiers have just begun a two-year work and travel trip around Australia in their brand-new Isuzu NPR 45-155. Traveling in convoy, Anita will drive their runaround SUV while Reg tows their caravan behind the NPR.
Few people could equal their multi skill work preparedness.
The plan is to work their way around the country, stopping at various towns, obtaining work for a while, and then moving on. Anita and Reg have worked in poly welding and are experienced in reticulation, so they’ll be in demand wherever major reticulation work is needed.
It doesn’t end there.
They both have tickets for operating earth moving equipment, truck driving licences and fencing skills. Reg was raised on a farm and is familiar with farm work. He also knows how to operate a crane, and they’re both handy in general maintenance practical work.
Further to that, Anita has 30 years of sales experience.
So, there’s very little chance of this couple not being in demand. In fact, demand is so strong that their planned two-year project will likely take quite a while longer. Currently, they’re in Esperance, intending to cover the southwest before heading north and onwards.
And what about family?
The couple has four adult children, six grandchildren, and another on the way. So, with family responsibilities done and dusted, why not hit the road?
One further thing. The truck!
Firstly, they said a special thanks needs to go to Chris Secker for going above and beyond in helping them select the truck and to Garry Francke for supporting them with the best service.
Anita said they’re thrilled with the truck. Reg says it’s hard to believe there’s a caravan being towed as the NPR handles it so easily.
Having a truck tow a caravan is an interesting way to travel, as so much more can be carried, and the towing capacity is hard to beat.
They’re not the only ones to have chosen this means of travel, and it wouldn’t surprise them if they met other truck trippers on their way around.
